After I finished the book Someone Like You I decided to read another one of Sarah Dessens books. Out of all of them I decided to read This Lullaby because of it's great ratings. I loved the book just like I thought I would. The story is a classical romance, with a slight twist like Sarah Dessens other stories. Yet unlike the other stories, This Lullaby starts of pretty quickly and has is really funny, which the other stories lack. This Lullaby has the always happy, funny charming "boy-next door" with the main character, Remy, who only believes in staying in a relationship until the beginning love rush starts.
Remy is a heartbreaker. She's not afraid to love 'em and leave 'em. Except honestly she always leaves the relationship before it gets too serious, before the "loving 'em". When she meets Dexter it isn't a possibility to love him, until she finds herself falling for Dexter. Dexter isn't perfect, like Remy usually makes her boyfriends. He's clumsy, messy and a musician, all the things Remy would break up with boys because of. Yet she can't seem to break up with him. She couldn't possibly love him could she?
Unlike her mother, Remy doesn't fall in love easily, while her mothers constantly in love and currently on her fifth husband. Or her sixth, whether you count Remys dad. Which she doesn't.
Remys dad left before Remy was born. When he heard that Remy was born he wrote a song about her, "This Lullaby." The song was a hit makings Remys dad a one hit wonder. Sadly Remys dad died soon after the song was released.
This book is great, funny and so sweet. It's a romance, with still a touch of friendship and the way life shakes you around. It's a fantastic book and anyone who liked any other Sarah Dessen books will definitely love This Lullaby. It's hard not to!
I was so excited to see that you had written a review on a book by Sarah Dessen because I literally just finished another that I absolutely LOVED! It was my first time reading any of her books, and it left me feeling the need for more stories right away. Now I have the perfect one, thanks to you. Great description Fran!
