L8R G8R

About two weeks ago I started reading TTYL, a book told totally out of instant messaging. Currently I am read the last book in the series, L8R G8R. Maddie (madmaddie) Zoe (zoegirl), and Angela (Snowangel), are in their last year of highschool! I'm only half way through and I cant imagine what else could happen! Usually in the past books in the series (TTYL and TTFN) have had a sudden unexpected twist at the last couple days of the book. So far Maddie and Angela have been spending a lot of time together, getting closer and closer, while Zoe (though still 'true blue' with Maddie and Angela) has been drifting away, spending more and more and too much time with her boyfriend, Doug. Angela, though she refuses to admit it, seems to be slightly falling in love with Doug who has been in love with Angela, up until Zoe came in!
Through out the books you can so easily imagine what their life is like. Although instant messages aren't descriptive its nice to know what other people are thinking, not just the main character. And through it, its so easy to pick favorites! With girls abandoning each other and what they do, told through the messages, everyone has their own favorite. And it depends with the book! For example, each girl changes through the books. Another life lesson and another mistake made. So you'd think that in their Senior Year of high school they'd have it all figured out.
But nothing comes easy!
This book is great, and a fast read. It's hilarious (though the humor is pretty PG-13), sweet and very hooking. I recomend the whole series!

  2. Okay, Fern...I NEED THESE BOOKS!!! I love Lauren Myracle, her books are so fun. So why do you keep the books away from me?! Just kidding, but I do still want this series. Your blog post just made that longing grow, cause now you gotta keep them at hand. TTFN!

  3. I agree, Franny - the humor and themes in Myracle's books are on the PG-13 side - they take some maturity to handle and enjoy, but I suspect that you are fully capable. Myracle's a class act, and her books are present protagonists that seem altogether real - warts (as it were) and all.

If you like these, I have some other books that i can recommend - maybe not told in text messages but certainly books that present girls in ways that are real.
